Rhys Webb’s contract renewed by Ospreys
Rhys Webb the scrum half has penned a deal with Ospreys for the coming two years. The news has been confirmed by Ospreys officials today and Webb will be continuing his currently ending deal for two more years, which is until 2012-13 season.
The 22-year-old Rhys Webb is a Welsh rugby union player, who plays for Wales and Ospreys as a scrum half. He started his league rugby with Bridgend RFC in 2006 and then upgraded to Ospreys in 2007. He has earned 12 caps for the club since then. Webb started
his professional rugby career with Wales U-18 in 2005 and later went up to U-19 and U-20 in 2006 and 2007 respectively. He has earned overall 10 caps for his national team. He got selected for Wales international squad for the Seven’s tournament in 2009 and
is still providing his services to the national Sevens’ team.
Webb’s performance current season has been excellent and it’s the reason he is rewarded with a renewed deal to stay at the club for a lengthy period.
Talking to Osprey’s press he said, “I'm very pleased to have re-signed, the Ospreys are stirring ahead and I'm just content to be a fraction of it for another two years. The troupe and management here have a sturdy plan of where we want to go, and optimistically
we can take the Ospreys onto superior and improved things.”
Webb had a few injuries in 2010 and suffered through constant off field issues. He has recovered completely now and is at top of his game at the moment. Considering his recent performances, it is a clever decision by Ospreys to keep talented young blood
running in the club’s exhausted body.
Talking about his loyalty he added, “It's my home area, I'm glad to put on the Ospreys shirt and I'm looking forward to the diverse challenges of the next two seasons.”
Sean Holley the coach of the expressed his delight in this development and is looking forward to see Webb grow in Ospreys and be a star.
Holley said, “Rhys has been in our ranks for some time, and much like some of our other youngsters is now starting to mature and blossom. He has become very diligent in his match preparation, including getting to know the opposition.”
