Question:

Rhythm in Huckleberry Finn?

After escaping from pap, the rhythm of the story changes as Huck describes what it's like on the river.

So let me get things straight, the rhythm of a story, not a poem, can be choppy or smooth and fast or slow right? If so, what was the previous rhythm of the story before Huck escapes his pap and what is the rhythm AFTER he escapes from pap?

  1. Okay yes a rhythm of a story can be choppy, smooth, or fast but most of the time it's smooth.

Before Huck escapes his pap the rhythm is that he is trying to escape. As you probably know, he was chased by his father when he was drunk and his father almost killed him, and huck faked his death by killing a pig. Those are the two basic before rhythms.

The after rhythms are basically what you said, he is describing the river and what he is doing on it.

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. It is many years since I read Huckleberry Finn, and I really cannot remember details of the novel other than very generally.  However, these sites should help you with your work with it.

  3. It's like the mississippi, rough and choppy at points and smooth sailing at others.
