Ribbons and Final Fantasy?

Question

How come so many characters it seems in final fantasy have some sort of bow ribbon tied around their arm? (such as yuffy, tifa and rinoa to name a few) is there some significant reason they are designed this way?

**haha you know what? its true rinoa had it but if you read the story of cloud's background(his childhood) you will find that cloud must have met rinoa at that time when he was on his way to becoming SOLDIER so to put it
cloud arrives elsewhere and coouldnt find shin-ra so a girl with hair like tifa's came up to him and its actually rinoa...i supposed

you will see that rinoa is in that chapter XP
