The French international reflected on the hardships he had to face in his childhood days and insisted that he had to work very hard to be where he is now.
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has admitted that he had to work very hard to achieve the goals and to be where he is right now. The player claimed that the success he has achieved has not come easy to him as he has worked with
a lot of determination and passion.
Ribery stated that there were many hardships in his initial career and insisted that there was one time when he had to leave football and work with his father in the construction business. But the player is grateful to his former
clubs FC Metz and Galatasaray for believing in his abilities and making him the player he is right now.
The former Olympique Marseille midfielder added that he returned to football from construction when French side FC Metz offered him a new contract in 2004. He claimed that the move was surely a turning point in his career as he
performed very well to land a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray the very next year.
“I got back to football when FC Metz offered my first professional contract in 2004. I played brilliantly for them and was sent to Istanbul, where I was part of the team that won the Turkish Cup with Galatasaray,” he was quoted
as saying in an interview to Hindustan Times.
The French international further added that his footballing career stabilized when he joined Olympique Marseille in 2005. The 28-year old became an integral part of the side and his performances for the club earned him a call-up
for the national side.
“As a teenager I was already bouncing around with smaller clubs. My stint with Galatasaray, however, didn’t last long and it was finally in 2005-06 that I reached stable ground after getting a breakthrough with Olympique Marseille,”
he concluded.
Franck Ribery played two seasons for Marseille before joining German giants Bayern Munich in 2007. The two-time ‘French Footballer of the Year’ has so far made 114 league appearances for the Bavarians and has scored 39 times in
the process.
