The Bayern Munich winger is excited on reaching the German Cup final where they will meet Borussia Dortmund.
Franck Ribery has expressed his delight as Bayern Munich made it to the final of the German Cup after defeating Borussia Monchengladbach on penalties. The Reds travelled to Borussia-Park for the semi-final fixture on Wednesday,
March 21, and downed the home side 4-2 on a penalty shootout.
The winger stated that Bayern played extremely well especially during the first-half where they had a few decent opportunities to take the lead. However, he praised Gladbach’s defence which stood firm in front of the resilient
Bayern attack, who scored an impressive 20 goals in their previous three outings.
Ribery mentioned that the Munich giants wanted to win inside the normal time but were against one of the best defensive sides in the Bundesliga. He was encouraged by the fact that his teammates did not lose their focus throughout
the 120 minutes as Bayern went on to set a date with the reigning German champions.
While speaking to club’s official website, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international further added:
"I think we played very well today. We were always focused, because we wanted to make the final in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536. We had three good chances to open the scoring in the first half. It wasn't easy. Naturally, our aim was to win it in the
90 minutes, but Gladbach are a good team.”
Ribery also went on to praise the efforts of his goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Håvard-Nordtveit-c15896
which took the Reds through to the final.
Bayern will now meet the Borussians in the final on May 11 in Berlin. The Bavarian giants will return to action against Hannover on Saturday, March 24, at the Allianz Arena as they look to close the gap on the reigning German champions
in order to keep their treble hopes alive.
Jupp Heynckes’ men have also qualified for the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League where they will meet Olympique Marseille in the first-leg on March 28.
