The Nerazzurri finished their 2011-12 campaign with a disappointing sixth place in the league standings, in a year that also saw them go through three coaching changes to finally settle with young Andrea Stramaccioni.
Alvarez stressed upon the need for Inter Milan to aim for the honours in the upcoming season, and insisted that the players are motivated to make up for the disappointments of the previous season.
The Nerazzurri midfielder stated that the fans have high expectations of the team ahead of a new campaign, and hopes that the club will be able to end the year on a satisfying note for their supporters.
"We're hoping that this season will be better for us and for all the Inter fans. We'll work hard for this. Inter are used to aiming high, and that's how it should be.”
Alvarez went on to shed some light on his fitness, which has been a point of concern for the midfielder in the previous season.
