With Gregory van der Wiel’s uncertain situation at Amsterdam Arena, Frank de Boer has given the right-back role to the 21-year-old, and the young defender feels confident that he can certainly become the first-choice full-back.

Van der Wiel has long been linked with a move away from the Amsterdammers this summer. In addition, the highly-rated right-back also expressed his desire of leaving the Amsterdam giants in the ongoing summer transfer window for
pastures greener.
With the 24-year-old’s future at Amsterdam Arena uncertain, the Amsterdammers boss decided to leave him out of the starting XI, instating Van Rhijn instead of his place at the right-back position.
The promising young full-back, has admitted that Van der Wiel’s situation has given him a chance to cement his place in De Joden starting XI, while expressing confidence that he can fully replace the 24-year-old defender at Amsterdam
Arena.
“This is football. The situation of Gre is clear; he wants to leave the club. I feel confident that Ajax sees the future in me. I heard it from my coach Frank de Boer as well. It does not get much better than that you are preferred
to start the match instead of Gregory. Honestly, I am very happy”, Van Rhijn was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
The 21-year-old, who recently made his debut for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 under newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal, went on to admit that he needs to continue working hard if he is to remain the first-choice right-back for the Dutch powerhouse.
“My view is better. Before I get the ball, I know what to do with it. No other is like Greg without a doubt. I need to work on my technique, but he had it naturally. All in all, I still need to continue training harder”, Van Rhijn
concluded.
The Ajax’s youth academy product has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2015.
