  1. Honestly the cereal bottle is there for 2 reasons.  One the baby can't get the hang of the spoon and Two their parents are lazy and don't want to take the time to spoon feed.  We tried the cereal bottles with our twins and they never really worked well.  It was to much work for the babies to get the cereal out and they would just give up.  When we spoon fed them  they did so much better and had very healthy appetites.

  2. i started feeding the baby cereals with spoon (thick consistency) just to start teaching her eating with a spoon (at 3 1/2 months) but sometimes when my baby wasnt in the mood for slow dinner i had to mix the cereal with her formula and bottle feed her... u can feed her anyway u want.. if u want a thin consistency if thick consistency is too heavy for your baby then u can feed cereals by bottle...

why should spoon feeding be bad i dont understand??? do what you think is right and not what others think...

(yes there are nipples (not bottles) for cereal feeding -they are either numbered"3" or " X"

  3. I have never heard of a cereal feeding bottle. Cereal is meant to be given on a spoon. It is a solid food, and only purpose is to assist babies in getting accustomed to solid foods. It should never be given in a bottle. It serves no purpose. Your friend is wrong.

  4. On a spoon , it is now proven that if it is given in a bottle it can cause choking so i would avoid it in there. Also rice cereal is to help their body get ready for solids thats why you start on a spoon for the baby to learn how to eat also thats why you gradually thicken the rice cereal.  Those who tell you to put in a bottle would be doing that thinking it will fill baby uo to sleep !!

  5. I have seen the 'feeding bottles' and I don't think that they are a good idea.  they don't teach them to 'chew' and swallow, which is the whole point of early solid foods.

Why do they make them?  because they know stupid people will buy anything.  don't listen to your friend, you're doing it the 'right' way.

  6. If he's taking it from the spoon then carry on. He would have to suck extra hard to get it out of a bottle. I didn't know they made special bottles for cereal, sounds like a marketing ploy.

  7. Use a spoon, I know it is way messier but thenthey learn how to eat properly and I have no idea why, but you are not suppose to put cereal in the bottle, I think its because the dry chunks can gag your baby, like hot chocolate when you swallow a big dry chunk!

  8. the cereal in the bottle is very old school.

it was done to help ease babies into new tastes. It is still used now mostly to help fill a babies belly before bed because of how full it will make your baby, thus baby sleeping through the night.

now a days a small size spoon with the preferred texture of the cereal is usually one that midwife's, nurses and caregivers recommend.

    its really a personal choice.

and the choice of what your son will prefer.

  9. Definately keep it on the spoon...they say when introducing solids to feed from the spoon so its different from the usual feeding from the bottle...

They probably make the cereal feeding bottles as it makes money and i know some people who do it that way...i wouldnt though. Your doing the right thing hon!

    Hope i helped x

  10. It really doesn't matter which one you use. If he'll eat it off the spoon, then keep it up (he has to learn sooner or later). Or you can alternate, if you are in a hurry use the bottle, if you are at home with extra time, use the spoon. Eventually he will be eating off the spoon one way or the other.

And to you folks who have never heard of a feeding bottle, check my source below. These are also sold at most Wal-Marts.
