  1. there could be other ways, smaller portion, take a little off 1/2 to 1 ounce

  2. We all know restaurants have been benefiting from the low low low cost of rice for years. We tolerate it because lets face it most people (non rice cultures)  are afraid to make rice. Take the high road here. Become the one place your customers can count on for fair prices. Put a statement on your menus, plaster it on your windows. "In this time of the {rice} crises we stand by our customers and refuse to sell out and raise prices. " Customers are loyal to places that are loyal to them. I bet my shirt you see an increase in sales!

  3. What if you  put a nicely  lettered sign next to  the rice that says  something like:     " Dear valued customers due to  the sky rocketing prices  for Basmati rice  I am forced to   slightly raise my price to stay in business...I shall hold out as long as I can  but it is inevitable ... "   the management... perhaps  a  few weeks later  the sign is gone and the price  raised to  a fair  number.
