Richard Agar inks three-year deal with Wakefield Wildcats – Rugby League news
The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have taken Richard Agar of Hull FC on board on a three-year deal as their head coach.
This official news was made today, September 9, by Wildcats.
Two days prior to this confirmation, Hull FC had already confirmed Agar’s exit from their club by the end of this season. It was already being rumoured for quite some time that this move of Agar was in lieu of the offer extended by Wakefield, who were on
a lookout for a head coach to succeed John Kear because he will be ending his five-year stint with Wildcats at the end of this season.
While speaking about his move to the Wildcats, Agar stated, “I am really looking forward to the challenge of building a team and seeing it progress. Wakefield has a very rich history and a very proud heritage and I'm honoured to have been offered this position.”
Agar is looking forward to joining hands with Wakefield as their coach. According to him, he feels privileged to be named for a team with such a strong heritage and history to boast off.
However, this will put an end to his eight-year association with Hulls, which has been a successful run so far as he took his club to a Grand final and to a Challenge Cup final Showdown. Agar will reign in the responsibility as Wildcats’ coach for the next
season of Rugby League.
While sharing his views about the latest recruitment at the Wakefield, their chairman Andrew Glover added, “I'm very happy with this great appointment. I know our fans have thought it was a foregone conclusion that Richard was going to be our coach but that
really isn't the case. We have interviewed many people and Richard has shone through as the best for the job.”
Glover was pleased with their pick to succeed their outgoing coach Kear. He further clarified that the fans were not too surprised by this news as they were expecting it.
