Richard Agar of Hull FC states that he is not moving to Wakefield Wildcats - Rugby news
Richard Agar, head coach of Hull FC, has turned down claims made in a report on August 9th about his switch to the Wakefield Wildcats Trinity as their coach and replacement for John Kear.
According to the version published in the paper, it was suggested that Agar will move to Wakefield as their coach to succeed Kears, whose term at Wakefield is finished by the end of this season. It was further said that Agar is going to make the switch after
he had been offered to move up the hierarchy as the Director of Rugby at Hull FC.
Wakefield is expected to initiate their hiring process for the soon to be vacant coach position by the end of this week.
The rumour if Agar had been hot news in rugby circles and there was initially no response from the franchise that could confirm or deny the speculations. Later, the owner of the club, Adam Pearson stated that that there is no truth to what has been said
in the paper about Agar as he is busy planning for his next season as the coach with Hulls.
Today, it has been confirmed by Agar that there is no truth in the claims that were made by a paper a few days ago regarding him not agreeing to accept the proposed position at KC Stadium as the Director of Rugby.
It was also confirmed by him that his future is still linked with the Hulls and he has no plans of moving to the Wildcats as he fosters no plans of quitting his current role of coaching with Hulls.
While speaking about the claims that are made by the report, Agar stated, “The suggestions are that our new owner Adam Pearson has asked me to become a directory of rugby, which isn’t true. So there is absolutely no question of me leaving, or of my role
changing at the KC Stadium. I don’t where that particular story came from, but it isn’t true.”
Agar also revealed that he is completely unaware of the source of the speculations who have fabricated this account about him.
Agar denied completely both ends of the story and confirmed that he has not been approached by the Wakefield and stated, “I have not spoken to Wakefield. And I have not been offered any job here as Director of Rugby.”
While referring to the report, Agar added that it was gratifying to know that he is getting linked up to other prestigious offices but like Pearson, he also denied all aspects of the report.
