Richard Agar takes Dean Collis on board as his first singing with Wildcats - Rugby
Richard Agar makes Dean Collis his first deal as the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ coach on Friday, September 16. The player has inked a three-year contract with Wildcats.
Prior to Collis’ joining in with the Wildcats, he had bagged a State of Origin honour in 2007.
While speaking about his move to the Wildcats, Collis stated, “"I'm really happy to have signed at Wakefield and be playing in Super League. I'm excited for the new challenge and I just can't wait to get over there. I'm looking forward to being a part of
something new at the club and I hope I can prove myself to the club and its spectators."
The 25-year-old player has been part of Wests Tigers for six years, prior to his joining at Cronulla, which took place almost two years ago. His impressive performance profile convinced Agar for his intake into the club, who is himself newly hired as the
head coach of Wildcats.
Agar was previously filling in as the head coach of Hull FC which was confirmed by the club, to end during last week. However, the departing coach of Hull had joined in with Wakefield when they had already won the Super League license for the games until
2014.
This was far from Wakefield’s expectations because they were floating on the bottom of the league hierarchy. However, Crusaders’ financial crisis brought in happy news for Wildcats, who were not hoping to march into the Super League games because of their
weakest standing within the league. Crusaders had pulled themselves out the licensing process because the club was financially strained.
James Elston, the chief executive of Wakefield is very happy with Agar’s latest intake for the next three years. The chief also mentioned that Collis has been part of the National Rugby League (NRL) game, for past eight years, which will add to the level
of game played by Wakefield currently. Wildcats will benefit greatly from Agar his latest addition to the club.
