Richard Allen of Carsington Sailing Club wins the 2011 RS700 Inland Championship – Sailing news
Carsington Sailing Club’s Richard Allen showed some excellent sailing on the final day of 2011 RS700 Inland Championship at the Queen Mary Sailing Club to hit the top spot after 6 races with a discard. He ended the event with 10 points.
For the first time in this year’s circuit, the forecast was kind enough for sailors to complete six scheduled races in two days.
A convincing run of sailing on both days of racing brought Allen on top of the standings in the end with 10 points after six races. Finishing very close to him by 11 points was host club’s Steve Powell, who also took two important race victories on the first
day. Another consistent performance from Carsington Sailing Club’s Peter Shaw took him to third position.

10. 769 Rob Jones, Weston / Warsash 4, 1, 5, (DNC), DNC, DNC = 40 points
The forecast on the first day was ideal for the windward leeward races, as the PRO Mike Adams, assisted by his wife, Josie and International Judge, Chris Simon, worked really hard to make racing possible on the first day. Day 1 saw a WNW breeze blowing from
force three to four knots, which was enough to complete the schedule races.
On the second day, the breeze picked up more speed and Allen grabbed two race wins, which played a vital role in his dominance at the conclusion of the event.
