Richard Bevan, the League Managers’ Association chief executive, has criticized Chelsea for sacking manager Andre Villas-Boas just eight months into the season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss was sacked on Sunday, following a poor display against West Bromwich Albion in the
English Premier League which ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Blues.
Bevan said while speaking to reporters:
“What’s for sure is the club, despite unlimited wealth, haven’t yet worked out how to build a successful football club. Looking for what is an eighth manager in nine years is a serious embarrassment to the owner, the club, the fans and the league.”
According to Bevan, the fact that the Blues were now searching for their eighth manager in nine seasons was an embarrassment to the game. He believed it showed that the London club had not yet figured out how to make a winning team and instead were focused
entirely on the manager’s contribution.
The League Managers’ Association chief executive revealed how Villas-Boas had been extremely saddened by the premature sacking and was still worried about the club and how they were going to manage the rest of the season under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo.
He revealed:
“He (Villas-Boas) was very disappointed, frustrated, saddened, but his thoughts were for the club, the fans and indeed Roberto Di Matteo, wishing him well for the rest of the season. He's obviously a man who played six years or so for the club and has
got good managerial experience with West Brom in the Premier League.”
Assistant manager Roberto Di Matteo has been named as the replacement for the Portuguese manager, with a replacement most likely coming in the next season. Bevan went on to talk about how the player’s in a team should not have the power to decide how long
a manager should stay at a club, a trend seen at Chelsea in recent times.
Bevan continued:
“Players need to know that the manager's strategy and his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 is not in question, there's a clear remit.”
