Richard Bevan slams Chelsea and Roman Abramovich over Carlo Ancelotti sacking – EPL news
League Manager’s Association (LMA) Chief Executive, Richard Bevan, has blasted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 for sacking their manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
Bevan insists that the club owner, Roman Abramovich, showed little class to dismiss the Italian from his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. Ancelotti won the English Premier League and FA Cup double in his debut season with the club but was sacked because he could not repeat the last
season’s heroics.
The season ended trophy-less for the Blues but the overall outcome of the campaign was not as awful which could prompt the club to sack the double winner. Chelsea finished second in the Premier league behind Manchester United and lost in the quarter-finals
of the UEFA Champions League to the same opposition.
Bevan believes that the manager should have been given more time after a hugely successful last season and he was disrespected by the club. The Chief Executive believes that the decision is a disgrace to the game and the Premier League, and Abramovich needs
to change his advisors.
Bevan said, "I think the way they went about sacking Carlo was pretty much disrespectful in terms of the way they treated him. There was a tap on the shoulder in the corridor at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 and a 'let's go and have a conversation’. The way the whole situation
was handled was of little class.”
"And, actually, it's damaging to the game. It's disrespectful to the Premier League at the end of the season and I think Mr Abramovich needs to have a long hard look at the advisors who he's got advising him.”
He quoted the example of Manchester United manager, Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson, who had to wait for six years to win his first trophy for the club and their patience paid dividends as the Scot acclimatized to the culture of the club and now after 25 years, he has
won so many honours with the Red Devils.
Bevan added that the problem is not only with Chelsea but many other clubs are looking for instant success and are doing the same sort of things.
