Richard Finch, Park Sang-Hyun, Damien McGrane emerge clubhouse leaders: Ballantine’s Championship
Richard Finch, Park Sang-Hyun and Damien McGrane have emerged as clubhouse leaders at the Ballantine’s Championship.
The Championship began Thursday at the exquisite Blackstone Golf course in Seoul, Korea. This is a four-day tournament as a few players had early morning tee times.
Finch, Sang-Hyun and McGrane have posted their names early on the day and are the clubhouse leaders now. The three carded a similar round of five-under par, 67 and are in the lead early in the tournament.
The experienced Finch made an early morning move. He posted a fantastic score of five-under par and now shares the clubhouse lead. Finch is a seasoned player and has a couple of victories playing on the European Tour. The Englishman took advantage of his
experience and played promising golf for the first day.
Finch was bogey free for his round and managed to score five birdies. All these five birdies were the result of some excellent approach shots. The 33-year-old had a great momentum in his swing and was holding his putts. He was thoroughly impressive with
his game on the course.
Finch did not worry about the star-studded field and carved his way on top of the leader board. He will now be hoping to capitalise on this score and keep his name among the top contenders on the leader board.
As for the youngster Park, he played composed golf during his outing. The youngster was in good shape with his iron shots and also carded a round of five-under par, 67. He had six birdies and only made a single mistake during his round.
Park only had a single bogey for his round which came on the long par-5, 15th. He failed to hit the fairway as it was his only blemish for the day. The youngster was quite pleased with his game as he was hitting the ball well.
As for the Irishman McGrane, he was in great touch with his putter. He had a total of seven birdies and two bogeys for the round. McGrane was putting well on the greens and also took advantage of his long drives. He looked in great form and can be the top
contender to win the championship.
The first round of the championship is still in progress as some of the top ranked players are yet to finish their rounds.
