Richard Gasquet trounces Michal Przysiezny to enter round three – French Open 2013
Seventh seed, Richard Gasquet, got the better of the Polish challenger, Michal Przysiezny, with a bagel at the Roland Garros 2013 on Friday.
He finished with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-0 score line against the Pole to secure a place in the round of 32 at this second of the four Grand Slam events taking place in Paris, France.
The local star displayed brilliant skills to triumph over Przysiezny in their first encounter. He required almost one and a half hour stealing the show and staying on track for the title.
Gasquet cruised into the Court number one and reeled off four games before the Pole could come on the score sheet. Regardless of losing his edge in the sixth game, the Frenchman stayed focused. He cashed another break chance in the end and clinched the opener
with a 6-3 score line.
Ranked ninth in the Emirates Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Gasquet kept momentum rolling in the second set. He drew the first blood in the second game and leaped to a 3-0 lead. Despite squandering his edge in the seventh game, the French put his head
in the game. He got the breakthrough in the second last game and sealed the set by winning six games to three.
In the third set, the high flying Frenchman went berserk. He unleashed barrage of winners and wiped out six games consecutively. Gasquet was never threatened with any breakpoint and cashed both break chances to pocket the set with a bagel.
On the whole, the local seed smashed nine aces and spilled fewer double faults. He clobbered a lower first serve share of 59 per cent as opposed to his opponent’s 64 per cent but amazingly marked 32 out of 38 points on it. Furthermore, the Frenchman superbly
hammered 39 winners and ended the match with 92 points.
Next inn queue for Gasquet is the former world number three, Nikolay Davydenko, in the proceeding round. He dumped the Uzbekistani contestant, Denis Istomin, in straight sets to progress. The Russian veteran re-kindled his spark at the Stade Roland Garros
and registered a 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 victory against Istomin.
