Richard Hamilton: Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose focused on rehab, disappointed over season – NBA Update
Derrick Rose is ready for his rehabilitation work after suffering a nasty knee injury in the playoffs, according to his Chicago Bulls teammate Richard Hamilton. The Bulls guard said he met Rose, who had surgery on his knee that ended his season, was focused
on getting back to fitness.
"I just saw him like 4-5 days ago, we were talking in the training room (at the Berto Center)," Hamilton said. "He's in good spirits. He knows it's going to be a process.”
Rose’s injury almost ended Chicago’s chances of progressing in the NBA playoffs and Hamilton revealed that the point guard, just like everyone else on Chicago’s roster, was very disappointed with their playoffs exit.
"But it's hard for everybody right now, especially us. Just that the season is still going on, there are still teams playing. That's the hardest part for everybody."
The Bulls ended the season on top of the Eastern Conference standings and were tipped by most people to at least make it to the Conference Finals. However Rose’s injury simply knocked the wind out of the side and they bundled out in the first round.
That was the biggest regret for Hamilton and his teammates, who believed that they could get an NBA World Championship this season, after making it to the conference finals last time out.
"For me, and I know for my teammates, it's hard, because our goal was to win a world championship, and we thought this could have been the year," Hamilton said.
He did concede that the current Eastern Conference finalists, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat, deserved all the plaudits for making it this far as they had played some quality basketball throughout the year.
"You really can't take anything away from Boston, or Miami, because those guys have been great for a long.”
The Bulls at the moment can only wait for the next NBA season to begin, when they will be looking to make amends. Rose however is not likely to be a part of the team, at least for the most part, in the 2012 – 2013 season. His knee injury will require around
8 – 12 months healing, according to his doctor.
