Richard Hannon enjoys 1-2 finish in bet365 Molecomb Stakes – Horseracing news
Richard Hannon enjoyed a very good time at Goodwood, as his challenger Brown Sugar finished on top of the table in the bet365 Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) in England on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
Although the competition proved to be a close one, Hannon would not have been worried at all, as the runner up stallion was also his trainee, Anticipated.
Interestingly, both of Hannon’s challengers were not given the best odds for victory and it was going to be a tough race for them. However, they enjoyed the track conditions and made a strong impression in the end. None of the other horses were able to cause
problems for them.
Brown Sugar struggled in the opening stages of the race, as he did not find any space to go out on the attack. He had to wait for his opportunity, but the time was running out quickly for him because the participants had to cover just five lengths. Despite
a troublesome start, the Irish runner enjoyed a very good second half of the race and that was enough to give him the first place by a neck distance.
After the race, victorious owner William De La Warr said: “He didn't settle last time out and I have to hand it to Richard Hannon Jnr as it was his idea to drop it back to five furlongs to give him chance to settle. I am so pleased as this is our first Group
winner and it was all thanks to my son as he was the one who picked him out.”
Brown Sugar has only taken part in four races until now, which means that he lacks experience at the moment. However, he has proved that he is capable of delivering strong results at the highest level of the sport. He has been victorious in a couple of competitions
whereas secured the runner up spot once.
On the other hand, Anticipated is also pretty new to the sport, as he has taken part in just five events. His record is also a decent one, as he too has been victorious on a couple of times.
