Richard Hannon hopeful of Free Agent’s victory: Horse Racing news
The Group 3 Totepool Sagaro Stakes, which has been scheduled to take place at the Ascot racecourse on Wednesday, will be featuring rivals Free Agent and The Betchworth Kid.
The pair of the aforementioned racehorses also competed against each other in the Listed Further Flight Stakes that took place at the Nottingham racecourse at the start of April. In this particular race, Free Agent was beaten by The Betchworth Kid by a narrow
margin. The trainer of Free Agent, Richard Hannon, is confident that the racehorse will be able to hold off Kid in the Ascot meeting on Wednesday.
When Hannon was approached by correspondents regarding the odds of the two rivals, and what he is expecting out of Ascot, he was reported as saying, “The Queen’s Free Agent runs in the Sagaro Stakes. He was caught on the line by The Betchworth Kid in the
Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham, but the winner had been hurdling and was probably a bit fitter than we were, so we go there hopeful of revenge.”
On the other hand, The Bentchworth Kid's trainer Alan King does not have any particular concerns regarding his racehorse. According to his website, Alan King said that The Betchworth Kid deeply impressed his fans and connections when he clinched victory
in the Further Flight Stakes at Nottingham earlier this month.
Furthermore, he added that the way the racehorse performed at Nottingham showed that his performance was not only dependant on the soft ground, but that he could claim events otherwise as well. He further said that Hayley Turner and The Betchworth Kid were
all set for another spectacular performance at Ascot.
Hannon will also be saddling the two-year-old racehorse Magic City. He has previously won the Coventry Stakes and has been entered into the Aldermore Conditions Stakes, which was claimed by Zebedee last racing season.
Hannon was reported as saying, “Magic City clocked a very fast time when winning by six lengths on his debut at Newbury and could be quite exciting.”
