Richard Hannon’s Rougemont lands a terrific victory in the £250,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy
Rougemont, the three-year-old bay colt, brought immense joy to his connections with his narrow victory in the £250,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy at Newmarket on 19th April, 2012.
The son of Montjeu, out of mare Spritza, landed a victory for trainer Richard Hannon, coupled with rider, Pat Dobbs.
Rougemont raced with all his might and triumphed by ½ a length over the Richard Fahey trained, Mickdaam.
This victory was not only a shining moment for the trainer and jockey, but it also delighted owner, Mrs. Julie Wood as, Rougemont, was her 100th winner.
Satisfied with his performance she told the press that: "That's my 99th UK winner, plus the Goffs Million [with Lucky General in 2009] in Ireland.
"That's so exciting and I'm really pleased. I love my horses, but there are bad bits as well as good bits so I relish days like this. We didn't put him in the Derby, but I wish we had."
The bay colt was not expected to take the race as he raced with slim odds.
The third place was secured by Arsaadi, who was ridden by jockey, Ahmed Ajtebi for trainer William Haggas.
The Sultan Ali owned filly performed well and demonstrated her skill and landed a respectable third place finish, 3 ¼ lengths after the runner-up.
Coupe De Ville, also trained by Richard Hannon raced as a favourite with the odds of 7 to 2, but missed the victory as he finished fifth, 3 lengths adrift of Amira's Prince, who finished fourth.
Rougemont victory was symbolic for Richard Hannon and Pat Dobbs, as it was the second victory of the week for them.
Esentepe landed a magnificent finish in first place in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes (Group 3) at Newmarket on 18th April, 2012.
The daughter of Oratorio, out of mare Mythie, had to battle with Nayarra for the victory, which ended in success, as she finished a neck before the Mick Channon trained filly.
If this duo of the trainer and jockey keep on performing in the same manner,then they are bound to emerge victorious from some big events.
