Richard Hughes looking forward to the Qipco 2000 Guineas with Trumpet Major on 5th May
Richard Hughes is delighted to be back to the race tracks which he is so deeply passionate about after being forced into a fifty-day ban that was levied upon him by the Indian jurisdiction after Richard Hughes failed to abide by the rules. The ban was second
by the British Horse Racing Authority.
The jockey said: "It's just good to be out of the house. I've been riding out as much as possible as I've always thought that's the only way to get the fitness back.
"I'm pleased they've put a few more meetings on the all-weather this week with the abandonments as I just want to ride as much as possible."
The Irish rider has not been successful lately as he parked City Dazzler fourth in the Betfred Goals Galore Fillies’ Handicap at Lingfield over seven furlongs on 1st May. The race was won by Boudoir while the 5/2 favourite of the race, Saratoga
Slew, who settled in as the runner up.
Richard Hughes was onboard Volito in the Betfred Mobile Casino Handicap (Division I) on 1sy May at Lingfield over six furlongs as the two ended fourth on the field of nine.

Proper Charlie was the 9/4 favourite of the race with Jim Crowley riding.
The last race that Richard Hughes was a part of during the 1st of May meet at Lingfield was better as it saw him ending the race as the runner up with is mount, Sputnik Sweetheart. The British Stallion Studs Supporting British Racing EBF Maiden
Fillies’ Stakes over seven furlongs was won by Dance Company.
His fifty-day ban made him miss the Group 3 Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes for which he was supposed to ride the three-year-old bay colt, Trumpet Major.
He said: "I was very impressed with him at Newmarket. I didn't think he'd go on the (good to soft) ground as he ran once on soft ground last year and ran terrible. He has obviously improved a lot from two to three."
Richard Hughes is now focusing on Saturday, 5th May for riding Trumpet Major in the Qipco 2000 Guineas. He is already impressed with the colt’s performance in the seasonal debut. The race might just be the big opening that Richard Hughes has been
searching for since the ban.
