Pace bowler Richard Jones on Thursday extended his stay at New Road until the end of 2014 season, by signing a two-year contract extension with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 County Cricket Club.
Expressing delight at his new deal, the gangling right arm medium pacer said that after having secured a contract extension he will now concentrate on cricket for the rest of the season.
"I'm glad to get it sorted so I can concentrate on cricket for the rest of the season and trying to keep us up," said Jones, who started his cricketing career at New Road with the Worcestershire Academy, back in 2003.
"It's a special place to play cricket...I've got a lot of friends here. We’ve...a great dressing room atmosphere and I'm excited to be a part of that for at least the next two years."
The 25-year-old Stourbridge-born pace bowler earned the contract extension at the back of an impressive 2012 season with the club so far. He has claimed 30 wickets in the 2012 LV = County Championship Division One, so far from nine games at an average of

Last season he played only six matches for the club, but made a startling start to the 2012 season claiming impressive 6 for 32 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 on the opening day of the 2012 season. He is currently Worcestershire’s second highest wicket taker, after

The Director of Worcestershire cricket, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Rhodes-c91315, also expressed delight over the signing and hoped him to continue with the good form in the remainder of the season.
"We are delighted that Richard has taken the decision to extend his contract with Worcestershire,” said Steve Rhodes, on Thursday.
"Richard is a home-grown talent who has come through our academy system, made a good start to his first-class career and continues to improve," he added further.
