Richard Krajecik to replace Ivan Lendl in AEGON Masters Tennis Tournament – Tennis News
Ivan Lendl is injured at the moment so his replacement is found and its 1996 Wimbledon champion, Richard Krajicek that will make his way to Royal Albert Hall to play the AEGON Masters Tennis Tournament.
The tournament starts from Wednesday 30th December. Dutch tennis ace is known to have disrupted the sublime form of Pete Sampras at Wimbledon. He is famous for his rocket serves and delicate touches near the net that
flabbergasts every player and earns him those special points that becomes the talking point for everyone during the tournaments. He has this god-gifted talent of coming up with extraordinary shots that stuns his competitors.
He will join in the likes of John McEnroe, Pat Cash and Henri Leconte to battle it out at the Champions tour title. The tournament will be telecasted live on ITV4 channel and Dutchman’s first match against former World No.1, John
McEnroe, will revive the memorable moments of Wightman Cup.
Krajicek was delighted at the fact that he will be contesting in an event after a long period of time and hitting the tennis courts is the most enthralling feeling for any tennis player at any part of his life. He proclaimed “I’m
happy to have the chance to play in London again. The Royal Albert Hall is an amazing venue and I am really looking forward to playing against John McEnroe on Friday night. He still plays very well, he pushes himself and in doing so he also pushes us. When
you play against some guys on the ATP Champions Tour it is relaxed, but not against John. Playing him is the closest we ever come to being back on the ATP World Tour. There is never a dull moment!”
The tournament will be a group staged as the above listed four players will contest in a single group against each other to make their way into the semi-finals. The round-robin contest will feature Goran Ivanisevic, Tim Henman,
Mark Philippoussis, Fabrice Santoro, Thomas Enqvist and Younes El Aynaoui.
Doubles tournament is also scheduled to be played at the same time and the majestic appearance of legendary Mansour Bahrami will provide a good time of laughter at the pitch with his through-the-legs and other extraordinary shots
will be one of the features to watch. He will be joined in by Peter McNamara, Jeremy Bates, Mikael Pernfors and Andrew Castle to complete the doubles category.
