Richard Pybus confirmed as new Bangladesh coach – Cricket News Update
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Grant-Law-c91460.
“I am delighted at the opportunity of coaching Bangladesh,” said Pybus. “I am looking forward to getting busy with the boys.”
Pybus began coaching in his mid-twenties, after a string of injuries ended his own chances at having a cricketing career. His first appointment was as coach of Border in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, after which he was appointed coach of Pakistan’s national team for their
1999 World Cup campaign.
A spat with the management led to his return to Border, but he coached the Men In Green again for their 2003 World Cup campaign, and followed that up with a stint as coach of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856 from 2005 to the end of the 2006/2007 season. He saw the team to victory
in the MTN Domestic Championship twice, and was named the Coach of the Year by Cricket South Africa (CSA).
Pybus caught the eye of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) earlier this year, when coach Stuart Law expressed the intent to resign in April this year owing to family reasons. The appointment of Pybus spells the third coaching change for the Tigers in less
than a year – Law had only served for a period of nine months, after having taken over from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Darren-Siddons-c65582 last year in July.
“We have spoken to him [Pybus] and we are quite interested to get him,” BCB president http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122 had expressed earlier this month.
The board decided on Pybus after considering a host of other candidates, among them http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-John-Greatbatch-c74652. A two-year deal was signed after the 47-year-old had a chance to visit the country, and inspect the facilities at the Shere Bangla National
Stadium in Mirpur.
Pybus will be taking up the post before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 to finish
in second place.
“We have an active schedule ahead of us and for me the next few months will be about building relationships with the players and the coaching staff and ensuring that the progress made up to the Asia Cup continues,” he said.
