Richard Schuil, Reinder Nummerdor win ‘The Beach’ – Beach Volleyball news
The final of ‘The Beach’ tournament was recently held in Aalsmeer, Netherlands. The championship was a part of the CEV indoor satellite.
The two duos that participated in the final match of the second edition of the tournament were the home players Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil as well as Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz from Poland.
The resulting competition between the two sides did not take long to reach its close as the home team was able to assert themselves and bag the title after making a clean sweep over their opponents. Not only were the duo of Nummerdor and Schuil manage to
win the final in two back-to-back sets, they won each frame by a comfortable margin. By the time that Nummerdor and Schuil were celebrating their title victory, the scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 21-13 and 21-17.
The recent victory achieved by the home duo is the second consecutive title for Schuil. Schuil was also able to come to the top of the charts last year by giving an impressive performance. However, Schuil was not partnered with Nummerdor at that time as
the latter was unable to play due to an injury incurred. Schuil played the previous season matches that got him success with the help of Jon Stiekema.
Despite the fact that the polish guests lost the match, the young team did not give up the chase at any point and tried their best to give their more experienced competitors a run for their money. The energy and enthusiasm displayed by both Kadziola as well
as Szalankiewicz showed the potential they had for future successes.
The first set of the match saw both the teams lock horns together for some time but eventually, Schuil and Nummerdor managed to pull up ahead. Schuil was able to put up eight kills in the opening frame that worked a great deal towards their 21-13 win.
The second set saw Schuil and Nummerdor take the lead early on at 6-1. Once they had the lead, the home team did not let go of the advantage and won the frame at 21-17.
