Richard Webb occupies Men’s 100m breaststroke gold: Day one – 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals
Richard Webb of Swansea Perf occupied gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on first day of the 2012 British GAS ASA Nationals in Sheffield, England on Wednesday, June 20.
Webb faced no trouble in occupying gold medal of the double lap breaststroke discipline. With his fascinating efforts, he remained prominently faster from his opponents throughout the event and tapped the finishing end for gold medal.
He demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the 100m event and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 01.64 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Aleksander Hetland of Norway, who stayed 0.60 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 02.24 seconds.
Third position of the discipline was secured by Andrew Willis of Bracknell, who stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 02.40 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Russell Smith of Stockport Mo, who was 0.23 seconds apart and touched the finishing end for fourth position with an effort of 1 minute and 02.63 seconds.
Smith was trailed by Thomas Litten of Kelly Coll, who stayed 0.31 seconds away from his former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 02.94 seconds for fifth position.
Similarly, Litten remained 0.08 seconds faster from Douglas Scott of Eastkilbride, who secured sixth position of the 100m discipline by producing a time of 1 minute and 03.02 seconds.
Seventh position of the breaststroke event was obtained by Jamie Graham of Co Glasgow, who was 0.42 seconds behind and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 03.44 seconds.
Graham remained 0.18 seconds faster from Adam Peaty of Co Derby, who managed to secure eighth position of the discipline by posting a time of 1 minute and 03.62 seconds.
In addition, Webb was contented with his gold claiming effort in the 100m discipline and expressed that he will try to impress his supporters by shining in the same event at the 2012 London Olympics.
