Manchester City’s defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Micah-Richards-c25259 is finally nearing a return to full fitness, following him injuring his ankle in a match that he played in the 2012 London Olympics.
The full back went on to injure his ankle in the quarter final game that Great Britain played against South Korea, and he has been on the sidelines since then.
At the moment, it is believed that he has started to train with the squad once again, and could make a return to the first team before the current month comes to an end.
Given the way the City defence has been playing so far this season, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323 is more than likely to go on and welcome the player back into the squad with open arms.
Last week, Mancini went on to state that the English defender was due to return to the first team in two weeks time, which was rather brilliant given that he picked up a very serious knock to his ankle.
The manager also believes that the returning full back will add some much needed competition to the back line at the club, which would see just about everyone improving on their level of performances for the team.
Despite the full back having to compete with so many players for a spot in the starting eleven, he feels that he isn’t going to have many problems, should the manager follow the same formation that he has adopted.
“The manager's been playing a 3-5-2 system so there's more chance I'm going to play if he goes with that,” Richards said.
“But if he plays 4-4-2 it's going to be me, Zaba [Zabaleta] and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maicon-c23157 battling it out for the right-back position.”
“I don't mind as I've had competition here all my life. I've been here seven years and I'm still going, so a little bit of competition just makes it a little bit better. I just can't wait to get back and get playing to show everyone what I can do all over
again.”
Nonetheless, it is now all up to Mancini and Richards, as the clubs fans will be waiting to see just what sort of an impact the defender will have once he returns to the team.
