Richie McCaw inspires his men to put in a big effort during championship decider - Rugby World Cup
The skipper of the All Blacks, Richie McCaw, has asked his team to give their best in a do-or-die clash against France. All Blacks are facing France in the grand final of Rugby World Cup 2011 on October 23, at Eden Park to decide the new ruler of IRB for
the next four years. All Blacks had earlier won the championship in 1987 and since then the pioneer champs have failed to repeat history. Talking to media in a pre-match press conference on October 22, McCaw urged his team-mates to avail the golden opportunity
of becoming world champs.
All Blacks are enjoying an unbeaten run in the ongoing world showpiece and are in good position to lift crown on Sunday night. They have not let anything slip from their hands so far and achieved the required results in every outing. From their inaugurating
game against Tonga to the last hot battle against their arch rivals Wallabies, they have displayed well composed team work every time.
Over the years failures in knock out stages have earned them the notorious label of being ‘Chokers’ and the skipper wants to get rid of it in today’s show down. Talking to the journalists about the biggest match of his career, McCaw said that the situation
demands a team work to succeed.
He added that, “It's not about personal stuff, it's about this team having an opportunity and not wasting it. Going out and performing, playing the best game we've ever played in a World Cup final. That's the opportunity that's there and from our point of
view we don't want to let that slip by.”
The captain further said that, “Being captain of the All Blacks, it's a huge honour for starters, but there there is a lot of responsibility that comes with it. The expectation is that you set the standards that have been forged over a long period of time,
and I guess I've got to, along with the coaches, drive that.”
Both sides have decided to go with unchanged line ups for grand final of Rugby World Cup 2011, to be played in jam packed Auckland.
