Richie Richardson Appointed manager for West Indies Cricket
West Indies cricket legend, Richie Richardson has been appointed as the team manager of the West Indies cricket team for a period of two years.
Richardson, who is now retired from international cricket, will join the team for the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, set to begin this month, involving a three match ODI series.

The right-handed former batsman stressed that he would try his level best to lift the level of the game in the Caribbean once again and increase the interest of the sport in the young generation of his country.
Talking to the media, he said, "I believe that it is critical for me to lend support to the efforts to re-develop the sport in the region". He further said, "We are at the cusp of a new era, and it is now time for me to contribute off the field and aid in
the building and resurgence of West Indies cricket"
The Antiguan made his Test debut in 1983, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, and, in the same year, made his ODI debut against the same team. He played his last five day version of the game in 1995, against England, and said goodbye to One-day cricket in 1996, after playing

The prolific batsman from the Caribbean played 86 Tests, scoring 5,949 runs with an average of 44.39. He played 224 ODIs, and scored 6,248 runs, averaging 33.41 runs per game.
Richardson began his career under the captaincy of Clive Lloyd and soon became a batsman who was respected widely. He was known for playing the fast bowlers with incredible ease and composure.
After Vivian Richards’ retirement from international cricket, Richardson took over the responsibility of captaincy. In his four year stint as captain, WI lost only one series, which was against Australia in 1995. He led the team in 24 matches, winning 11
of them. It was under his captaincy that Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh and Brian Lara emerged as the greatest West Indian players of their time.
