Rick Carlisle furious at his team; threatens suspensions – NBA Update
Dallas Mavericks are falling apart like a house of cards and their Rick Carlisle doesn’t like it one bit.
Infact, he is furious.
The reasons why Carlisle is super frustrated are not only the mounting losses, but the effort level and professionalism shown the players. The Mavs got off a decent start to the season, even without their star player Dirk Nowitzki.
However, in the last month or so, they have been at best, listless. Losers of 9 of their last 10 games, including two major blowouts at the hand of the mighty San Antonio Spurs, the Mavericks barely look like a NBA level team. And, that doesn’t make Carlisle
happy.
“The last week, I’ve had to literally scream in the face of two guys in practices and shootarounds to get the point across. And I will continue to do that. If I have to start suspending guys for not doing things they’re supposed
to be doing on the court, I’ll do it. And Mark (Cuban) and I will get into it about that. But somehow, things have got to change and it can’t just be about that it’s a tough schedule. It just can’t.”
Carlisle might take up the issue with Mark Cuban, the franchise owner, but should remember that it was actually Cuban who orchestrated the dismantling of a championship winning side just to assemble another in the free agency.
Mavs however failed to land both Dwight Howard and Deron Williams this year, but still their cards smartly to assemble a decent roster, which should have been playing at a better level.
While some of the players have just clicked after the change in scenery, Chris Kaman and Elton Brand being the most prominent, but in the case of Darren Collison and recently O.J.Mayo, the performance levels have dropped drastically,
despite the talent. That is what frustrates Carlisle, who is not used to losing much.
Perhaps one man who can turn the tide for him is Dirk Nowitzki, but the German power forward is not close to complete fitness, and his minutes need to be managed so that there is no relapse.
