Rick Flair names wrestlers who could beat almost all MMA fighters – UFC News
Finally, it is here. Someone has spoken against MMA fighters and the popularity they are gaining, as it was expected. Surprisingly, the word did not come from The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Brett Hart, The Undertaker, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Manny Pacquiao,
Floyd Mayweather Jr. but they are owned by the 16-times WWE champion Ric Flair. As we all know how much the popularity of MMA, especially UFC, has hurt the profits of WWE and boxing worldwide, it was expected that sooner or later someone would stand against
MMA.
In a recent interview with WrestleNewz, Ric Flair named a few wrestlers who could beat any MMA fighter in the world.
“I will watch MMA if someone I know is actually in it, but all the guys I know personally are gone. Liddell’s gone — he’s a good friend,” said The Nature Boy.
“Ortiz is gone — he’s a good friend too. Brock Lesnar is gone. The other guys now, I don’t watch, because I don’t care about them. But I’ll tell you: I have been in matches with Bruiser Brody that were tougher than any MMA match! Especially in Tokyo. Same
thing with Stan Hansen.
“Try getting in the ring with him one time in Tokyo, brother. Good lord! And F.Y.I., nobody in MMA could have beaten Harley Race or d**k Slater.”
It seems like Ric Flair is finally talking about fighters who know how to fight, and not fighters from the World Wrestling Entertainment. Surprisingly, Flair did not name a single WWE fighter, despite knowing some of the best ones such as Hulk Hogan, Brett
Hart and Shawn Michaels.
For now, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has already given MMA the much needed boost, and now it is among the most demanded combat sports in the world. World Wrestling Entertainment, as many put it, is just a money making machine. Kurt Angle, former WWE
champion, revealed his interest in MMA last month, saying he would have opted for MMA any day over wrestling, only if the sport was this popular during his time.
It seems like the era of MMA is here and wrestling is fading off.
