Rick Nash linked with a move with New York, Philadelphia, Detroit San Jose and Pittsburgh –NHL Update
Canada’s right winger, Rick Nash, is no doubt right now the most wanted player in the National Hockey League (NHL) as transfers continue to take place. He is also the captain of Columbus Blue Jets, which are the members of Central Division of the Western
Conference in the NHL.
At the moment there are at least 5-6 teams which have already showed their interest in Rick Nash. Some of them include New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Detroit Red Wings, San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins. Sports reporter Aaron Portzline confirmed
this when he tweeted, “Confirmed today Pittsburgh is on Rick Nash's "approved" list. So #NYR, #Flyers, #Red Wings, #SJSharks, PghPenguins. Could be 1-2 others.”
Rick Nash, who also captains, Team Canada along with Columbus Blue Jackets has stayed at Columbus, Ohio representing Blue Jackets for nine out of the last 10 seasons, being one of the leading scorers as he scored around 30 goals every season and giving almost
equal number of assists. In total he has played 674 games collectively in those 9 seasons at Columbus Blue Jets scoring 289 goals, giving 25 assists and earning him total number of 547 points. His stats clearly indicate the class of players to which he belongs
and the thing which is making every team interested in him.
He was also the part of the Canadian Hockey Team which won Gold Medal in the Olympics Winter Games 2010, played at their own home Vancouver, Canada and also the member of the team which won Ice-Hockey World Championships in 2007 which was held in Moscow,
Russia. In his presence Canadian national team was twice a runner-up (losing in the finals) in 2005 and 2008.
In between all the teams Red Wings Detroit is a team which needs an experienced player and a leader after Nicklas Lidstrom left but they need a defenseman to fill his place at the moment. Another thing that makes it difficult for Red Wings to sign Nash is
that they already have got many forwards and it would be interesting to see how Nash fits there if Red Wings sign him.
It might also happen that Rick Nash doesn’t go anywhere and stays where he already is, Columbus Blue Jets. But General Manager of the Columbus Blue Jets, Scott Howson is not saying anything about quest of trading him. Howson only said, “We are working really
hard” when he reached there on Thursday. 52 year-old former player from New York Islanders also added that they are not facing any kind of deadline to finalise the deal.
Mid-day through the last season Nash had revealed that he had given a request to be transferred, even though he had a no trade clause in his contract.
