Rick Nash to be third dimension of New York Rangers team next season -NHL Update
Last season, New York Rangers did not find it difficult to top the Eastern Conference and nearly got a shot at the Stanley Cup during the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Playoffs.
With Rick Nash on board now, New York has gotten their third dimension now, making them a well rounded team from all regards. Since there is always an urge to continue improving, Rangers also went after top league defenseman of Nashville Predators, Shea Weber, but failed to acquire the player.
Nevertheless, Rangers still carry some of the most extensive depth players in the entire league that are able to put up big numbers and lead the team forward at the same time.
For New York Rangers’ general manager, Glen Sather, Rick Nash is just outright amazing in every sense of the word.
"We're happy to have a five-time All-Star on our team and a 40-goal scorer and a guy that's only 28 years old," GM Sather said. "He's one of the better goal scorers in the National Hockey League and he'll help us immensely."
What Rick Nash really wanted is a Stanley Cup. Staying in Columbus was seen by him as holding him back from achieving his goals in life and career. Not only that, it was not getting the Blue Jackets anywhere also, so making the transition just seemed natural to him all of a sudden, something which he and the team might appreciate later on.
"I'll embrace it great," Nash said. "I think in 2010, I had the most pressure on me in the Olympics being in our home country. I feel like hockey is truly a passion here where they expect the same championship-calibre team. I think they've done everything they can as an organization to put that together and I think pressure is a great thing if you use it in the right way."
At the age of 28, Nash is playing in him prime. With 674 games and 547 points (289 goals, 258 assists) to his name, Rick Nash is definitely one of the best in the league at the moment and extremely suitable to New York’s conditions after a long stay in Columbus, Ohio.
