Rick Story vs Martin Kampmann – MMA Preview: UFC 139
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has featured numerous interesting and intense fights in the past. Known for the agility and swiftness of the fighters, these UFC matches always keep the spectators amused. UFC fans would be
anticipating the same kind of energy on Saturday, November 19, 2011. On this day, Rick Story will try to punch ahead of Martin Kampmann when the two collide at UFC: 139 in San Jose, California.
Danish fighter, Kampmann, made his successful Welterweight debut in January 2009 against Alexandre Barros. Kampmann won the debut match by a technical knockout (TKO) when he blasted Barros with his punches and won the fight in
the second round. Kampmann will do the same in his fight against Story and will use his punches to make a devastating blow. Kampmann has won 17 fights, lost 5 and none of his fights were drawn. On the other hand, Story won 13 fights and lost 4 with no draw.
The difference in their wins and losses is not that much. The outcome of their match at UFC: 139 will depend totally on how they perform in the ring.
Rick Story, the American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, will have an advantage with his takedowns as he has a 36% success rate with his takedowns. He can put down Kampmann in the early stages of the fight to blow some punches
on his face. However, Kampmann will not go down that easily for he has a higher success rate in his submissions. With a success rate of 57% in his submission tactics, Kampmann can lock Story in his arm-triangle choke and guillotine choke.
Kapmann stands in at 6ft while Story has a height of 5ft 10in. The height factor will give Kampmann an edge in the fight for it could be difficult for Story to takedown the Danish fighter. Kampmann can use his taller vertical stance
as a leverage factor in overpowering Story. The American fighter, Story, on the other hand, will use his strong punches to keep Kampmann in the corner.
The moment Kampmann loses his vertical base and falls down, the 27-year old Story will lose no time in applying his rear naked choke, which has been his main submission manoeuvre in past fights. Story, nicknamed The Horror, will
try to remain on his feet for the most parts of the match and block Kampmann’s punches and knee strikes. Story would be well aware that the moment he goes on the ground, Kampmann would use his ground tactics on Story and it would be difficult for Story to
come back on his feet.
