Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar aim another victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational – Golf News
Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar headed for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial Country Club with the similar aim of recording another win on the tour this year.
Both the players have been making the headlines for the last few months because of their excellent form and top-notch finishes in the tournaments they played.
Fowler entered the season eying the first ever PGA Tour victory of his career,, and succeeded after continuous struggle when he won the Wells Fargo Championship, with a birdie on the first extra hole in the playoffs.
He has played a total of 13 tournaments during the 2012 PGA Tour season so far and succeeded in recording four top-10 finishes.
The most interesting fact to be considered is his form in the recent tournaments he has played.
Right after missing the cut in the RBC Heritage, he bounced back strongly with a tied for the 10th position in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
The very next event at the Quail Hollow Country Club witnessed him outshine his opponents to take the top position on the leaderboard.
Thereafter, he participated in the Players Championship and continued playing good golf on the course.
The consistency in his game helped him tie for the second position, allowing him to take the top position in the FedEx Cup rankings.
However, Jason Dufner replaced him later on the top with a win in the HP Byron Nelson Championship.
In the meantime, Kuchar has a relatively better record on the PGA Tour in 2012 so far. He has played a total of 11 events and managed to record five top-10 finishes.
His best finish of the season came in the Players Championship when he took a two-stroke margin victory through a 13-under par tournament score.
The golf commentators believe that both the players will be among the favourites to win the title at colonial because of their consistency in the past few tournaments.
The only hurdle they will face is their putting errors. Both of them need to work a little extra on their putting technique in order to make a difference on the course.
