Rickie Fowler finishes outside top 10 in Farmers Insurance Open
Rickie Fowler secured the 13th position at the Farmers Insurance Open but the number of his fans did not drop even after an unsuccessful finish at Torrey Pines.
Fowler, a 23-year-old American professional golf player, is best known for his fabulous looks on the course.
He wears amazing outfits, has long appealing hair, belongs to an unconventional background and was a dirt bike racer in the past. He has an interesting personality and fans love him for what he is.
However, that is not enough to be in the news all the time, and that is why he is looking forward to winning his first Professional Golf Association Tour title this season.
A player can adopt fashion easily but cannot gain the glory of sport overnight. Keeping in mind that fact, Fowler is working hard to gain some respect and honour but is facing tough competition.
Since turning professional in 2009, he has not won a professional tournament except Kolon Korea Open in 2011, a OneAsian Tour event.
He defeated Rory McIlroy, who is famous for his talent and holds the 2nd position in the world rankings.
On the other hand, he successfully won multiple amateur championships. In 2005, it was Western Junior and Players Amateur in July 2007.
He also won Big 12 Championship and triumphed twice in the Sunnehanna Amateur, in 2008 and 2009.
He made his first appearance in the PGA Season 2012 at the Farmers Insurance Open. He finished by scoring a 9-under par and 279 strokes in total.
He enjoyed his performance but his fans wanted him to be in the top 10.
"It's fun for me," he said.
The Farmers Insurance Open chapter is closed. Now he is looking at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, starting from February 2 to 5, at TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale in Arizona. He is confident for his debut win this season.
"Where I am today, it's been a huge success. I guess [winning] is kind of the one thing that just needs to be done. I'm going to get my first win out of the way and, like I said, that's one of my main goals going into this year," Fowler said.
Similarly, after this, he will be appearing at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Aim from February 9 to 12.
Hence, he has ample opportunities to win at the PGA organised tournaments. He just has to become more committed to his game and deliver his best, just as he used to as an amateur.
