Rickie Fowler ready to bounce back at the BMW Championship
After making a poor start to the US PGA Tour Playoffs, Rickie Fowler is hoping to make a good comeback, when he tees off at the BMW Championship, on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
Fowler recorded the first PGA Tour victory of his career when he thrashed the field of the Wells Fargo Championship this May.
He followed that with a tied second and tied fifth position in The Players Championship and the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, respectively.
Afterwards, he lost his form that continued in the Playoffs. At the curtain raiser for the one-month swing on the US circuit, The Barclays, he posted a one-under par tournament score and shared the 24th spot.
Last week, he performed even worse, as he tied for the 74th position, following a seven-over par score at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
This week, he expects to turn the tables in his favour, by posting some good scores on the leaderboard.
“Off to a bit of a rough start so looking forward to turning that around,” he said. “Start posting some scores and work on getting to the TOUR Championship and getting ourselves to ultimately win the FedEx Cup. Two good weeks of play and see if we can take
care of that”.
When asked about missing the Ryder Cup spot this year, he reacted by saying that he was not expecting to be in the team, because of his recent track record on the Tour.
He said that the US captain Davis Love III made the right choices by selecting the in-form players, along with the ones who have an ample amount of experience in the biennial event.
“He obviously went with some guys that have been there, guys that are playing well right now, which I completely understand, and just look forward to moving on in the FedExCup Playoffs and looking forward to the next Ryder Cup,” he said.
He also stated that he was good with his ball striking and the putter in the past few months. However, his scorecards did not speak of the way he played on the course.
This week, he plans to tweak his game and avoid the mistakes that forced him to stay away from getting into contention in the tournaments.
