Rickie Fowler replaces Tiger Woods at Golf Digest
2010 Rookie of the year, Rickie Fowler, will now work for the Golf digest as the playing editor.
With Tiger Wood’s contract ending earlier this year, the company has sought the Oklahoma player for the monthly instructional article.
Rickie has contributed to the Golf Digest many times. Just recently, Rickie was the subject of the “What’s In My Bag” section in the January 2011 issue. Being the charismatic young golfer he is, Fowler will surely attract many people.
“We are thrilled to have Rickie join our exclusive family of playing editors”, said Jerry Tarde, chairman and editor-in-chief of Golf Digest in a release. “Our goal in every issue is to offer our readers insight from the best and brightest in the industry
and Rickie Fowler is quickly becoming one of the most influential players in the sport”.
As for the World number three player, Tiger Woods, his last column will appear in the February edition. Woods and golf digest failed to reach an agreement hence leading to Woods parting ways with Golf Digest.
Tiger’s agent said that his client won’t be able to commit more time to the project. Due to time managing issues, Tiger ended the relationship that began at the 1997 masters. Staying with Golf Digest for thirteen years, this was the longest endorsement that
Woods had after Nike.
Tiger should be used to being replaced now. Last year, on October 31st, Woods was replaced by European Lee Westwood as the world’s number one player.
A rank that the fourteen time major championship winner had held for five years was taken away him due to the decreasing performance he was giving.
Ever since news of Tiger’s infidelity came out, Tiger experienced what was the one of worst downfalls in the history of golf. Last year, it was the first time that Tiger didn’t win a single event.
Just recently, Tiger has also been replaced by Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Peyton Manning, as the world’s most powerful athlete. And now, after being replaced by Fowler, Tiger will be desperately looking for turning things around in 2011.
As for the player of the moment, Rickie also filmed an advert for Puma recently, in which the player plays golf while using a dirt bike. The 22-year old star is surely very eager to be in the same company as legends like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and
Tom Watson.
Hopefully Fowler, who terms joining the company as ‘cool’, will be a good asset to the Golf Digest.
