Rickie Weeks back as Milwaukee Brewers look for bigger glory – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers are putting a lot of effort in the current season to compete with the rival teams. Their strategy, at the same time, has had credible success as well. Having always set a strategic plan, the Brewers are once again bracing themselves
to stun their competitors in the days to come.
Weeks’ recent return has re-energized the Brewers. Having remained on the Disabled-list for more than a month, Weeks’ left ankle injury was quite a worry for the Brewers. However, the plan to take on the rival teams is something that the Brewers’ manager
Ron Roenicke is unwilling to disclose.
"There is a plan," Roenicke said. "That would be up to me to figure out in the game. I've already talked to him about it, but there is a plan. ... We'll probably extend it a little farther today and see how it goes."
Weeks’ injury, however, has not deterred him. Nor has it affected the overall performance of the team. The Brewers have been performing unusually well. But as Weeks is now back after a relatively long period of injury, his team manager does not want him
to once again fall prey to any other injury.
Therefore, Weeks recent return and playing for the team is good news as well. "I thought he ran real well, moved around good at second base," Roenicke said. "When he got on the second time, we had him run on a 3-2 count and we watched him run. I was impressed."
Weeks himself was happy about it. He mentioned that he was feeling pretty good and that he had discussions with manager Roenicke on how to tackle any possible stiffness that he may suffer in his ankle. As the season is fast coming to an end, the Brewers
will definitely want Weeks to stay afloat.
Something probably going unnoticed or being closely observed (depending on which camp one belongs to) is the rise of the Milwaukee Brewers. They have performed consistently well throughout these past weeks to hold the fourth position in the MLB ranking.
Having won 86 games now, standing next to the Arizona Diamondbacks which also saw a meteoric rise lately, the Brewers are all poised to pose a serious challenge to the top teams in the coming weeks. They are currently the top team in the Central Division
followed by the Cardinals who are behind with 80 wins.
As the Brewers put up a performance that remains par excellence and if they maintain the similar consistency exhibited all this while, there is quite a bit of certainty that they can do wonders. For that, Weeks’ fitness and performance, among other things,
will remain an important contributing factor.
