Ricky Hatton: Ryan Rhodes interests are dear to me and Dave Coldwell has offended many – Boxing News
Ricky Hatton, owner Hatton Promotions, finally broke his silence saying that he really keeps Ryan Rhodes’, his client’s, interests close to his heart adding that he is really hurt by the comments aired by Dave Coldwell, trainer Ryan Rhodes.
The whole issue took media’s attention when Hatton accepted Sergey Rabchenko’s, Ryan’s next opponent, offer to train him. Ricky revealed this fact in a twitter message. It was this tweet that irked Dave who later on bashed Hatton for playing a dual role.
Coldwell alleged that Ricky is not just training Sergey but is indirectly trying to create problems for Ryan. The Briton’s trainer further added that Ricky will help Sergey in grabbing a win over Ryan which is not good at all in any sense adding that Hatton
promotion’s owner has exhibited clear disinterest in protecting Ryan’s stakes.
After these allegations, no comments were put forth by Ricky who not only is considered as a high-profiled promoter but also runs his training facility and from time to time is hired by various pugilists for training purposes.
This is definitely a mere co-incidence that Ricky is helping out a brawler who is the opponent of one of his clients. It is this reason why Ricky held a press conference and cleared the mist of confusion by putting forth his sincere commitment with his clients.
Ricky commented that he is seriously hurt by Dave’s rash comments. Hatton explained that for him the interests of all of his clients are very dear adding that one can easily judge his alliances to his clients by taking a look at the fact as to how he has
arranged two title fights for Ryan.
The former British proud stated, “I tweeted a week ago that Sergey had landed and was in the gym training. Coldwell tweeted back that Ryan didn’t know I was training him and as Ryan’s promoter I was trying to get him beat. It goes without saying I’m training
Sergey to win but as a promoter it doesn’t change anything.”
Hatton iterated, “For Coldwell to insinuate that we would possibly be stitching Ryan up and not acting in his best interests has hurt me personally. These are unfair comments from Coldwell and show what a fickle sport boxing is.”
Despite the detailed explanation made by Ricky, Dave is not satisfied and in reply to Hatton’s press conference commented that how come is it possible that Ryan’s interest are secured when Ricky is plotting a plan against him by training his opponent while
keeping in mind Rhodes ‘weaknesses.
The matter is still unresolved and might become more problematic if Dave’s due concerns are not answered. Ricky is scheduled to take on Sergey in a 12-round bout with vacant EBU (European) light middleweight title up for grabs on June 16, 2012.
