Ricky Hatton believes Haye vs. Chisora would be good – Boxing News
Former WBA (Super), IBF & The Ring Light Welterweight Champion and WBA Welterweight Champion Ricky Hatton believes the grudge match between David Haye and Dereck Chisora would be an interesting one to watch. However, he admits, that anybody who
would be at the BBBC seat would be fuming over the event.
David Haye will go head to head with Dereck Chisora at the Upton Park on July 14. The bout is being sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation, as the BBBC did not sanction the fight.
While most former and current fighters are against the event, Ricky Hatton believes it will be a great show to watch. In his recent interview, Ricky Hatton came up saying, “I'll watch it. It will be a good fight. They're not breaking any rules but if you
were sat on the BBBofC committee, steam would be coming out your ears.”
When asked if the fight was legal and ethical, Hatton said, “If you were on the board of control, you'd be seething a little bit. But nobody's breaking any rules and, even though I'm a boxing member for the BBBofC, when it comes on the box, I'm sure I'll
watch it.”
He added, “As hard as it is having two fighters in my camp fighting each other, it's a wonderful opportunity for them and I'm not going to starve them of. The winners will go onto bigger and better things, and for the runners-up, I'll be here again to rebuild
them.”
For now, Ricky Hatton believes that Haye and Chisora will be an exciting event, as both the fighters will settle scores once and for all.
It should be noted here that even though Hatton believes the event will be great, most other analysts and fighters believe it will leave a bad impression on younger fighters and boxing fans. Vitali Klitschko called the event a freak show with freak rules.
He also said that by organizing such events, promoters are encouraging other fighters to misbehave and then earn through controversies. In addition, BBBC has already warned officials of withdrawing their licenses, if they participate in the event.
