Ricky Hatton believes Timothy Bradley will be an upset for Manny Pacquiao – Boxing News
Ricky Hatton, former two weight world champion, believes American fighter Timothy Bradley will be an upset for Manny Pacquiao in the ring on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. According to Hatton, Pacquiao is the number one pound for pound boxer in the
world but Timothy is no less. Hatton thinks Bradley is slick and tidy when it comes to boxing and that he has everything that is required to beat Pacquiao.
In his words, “Manny Pacquiao is the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world and he goes into this fight as the favourite but Timothy Bradley is a very slick and tidy boxer so this isn’t going to be an easy fight for him. Against Junior Witter we
saw how well schooled Bradley was and how he was able to figure out his style so quickly so I think he will cause Pacquiao some problems. I think style wise this could be an even better matchup than the recent fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto.
Mayweather is exceptional defensively and makes you miss but Pacquiao is a lot more exciting and when you put him in with Bradley style wise it makes for a great fight.”
Hatton added that Pacquiao needs to prove himself this time since most fans are expecting it. According to Hatton, Bradley does not need to have more than one plan for this fight. He added that most people think Pacquiao will blow Bradley’s senses but he
does not think so it will be this easy. Hatton says that he expects Manny to win but he knows this will be a great fight.
When asked about drug testing, Hatton said that there should be stricter drug tests in boxing to keep the sport clean.
For now, Hatton is hopeful that Pacquiao will beat Bradley. Hatton wants Pacquiao to show the world that he still is the fighter who knocked him out in 2008. Pacquiao ended Hatton’s career with a brutal knockout. If Pacquiao is the same fighter, he needs
to prove it this time against Bradley when his title will be on the line.
