Ricky Hatton is not yet satisfied with his career – Boxing News
While most members of the boxing fraternity view him as a legend, Ricky Hatton himself is not quite satisfied with his achievements. Following his loss to WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao, Hatton believes
he still has not done it all.
Hatton was riding a 45-fights unbeaten streak when Floyd Mayweather defeated him for the first, bringing an end to the Hitman’s reign. Later on, it was the Pac-man who knocked out Hatton in the second round to put a period to the Briton’s career. Hatton
went into retirement and was consumed by the pressure of not being able to defeat the best of his time. Now, he wants to change it by going head to head with Pacquiao and Mayweather again, which seems impossible right now.
In an interview with The Times, Hatton came up talking about how people take him as a legend yet it is not sufficient enough for him.
“It's nice to hear but it doesn't matter how many people say 'Rick, you're a legend'. It doesn't mean anything to me because I have the fella that sits on my shoulder every day saying, 'You f***ed up, you let everyone down',” said the former champion.
“People say, 'We remember the good times'. Well I remember the bad times.”
Hatton was retirement for almost forty months and he now wants to make a difference by going head to head against Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24.
“I’m sure that Vyacheslav Senchenko will give me a good fight. It’s one that I am confident I can win though. I believe this was as good an opponent as I could have had. I’m in great shape, I’m feeling good and I know I can put on a performance,” he added.
Previously, Hatton has revealed his days of depression during his retirement tenure. He once again emphasized on those moments, saying he was suicidal and would try to kill himself on and off. For Hatton, he still has a lot to do in the ring, even though
he knows he has done enough to stand among the legends in history.
