Ricky Hatton picks Floyd Mayweather over Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
The Hitman, Ricky Hatton, who is a former two-time International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation light welterweight champion, has picked Floyd Mayweather over Manny Pacquiao.
Hatton thinks Mayweather will easily beat Pacquiao by lopsided 12-round decision.
The Fighting Pride of Philippines, Pacquiao, recently met the Mexican Dinamita, Juan Manuel Marquez, in their highly anticipated trilogy bout on November 12, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao was expected to walk through Marquez but he could just mange a 12-round controversial majority decision over his opponent. Therefore, Hatton reckons if Mayweather and Pacquiao ever meet in the ring, it will be the American who will dominate the
fight.
Hatton, who is currently working as a promoter, during his career fought with both Mayweather and Pacquiao. He was knocked out by Mayweather in the 9th round and against the Filipino star, he suffered a brutal second round knockout which forced
him to walk away from the sport. Therefore, Hatton knows both fighters very well.
Hatton told telegraph.co.uk, “I thought Manny had problems with [Juan Manuel] Marquez’s style. Pacquiao is a pure fighter. On the strength of that contest and performance, it’s hard to see how Manny would beat Floyd Mayweather if they actually ever meet
in the ring…It could actually be an anti-climax because it could be a wide points decision for Floyd over Manny.”
Pacquiao, who is the current number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world, is an eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation World Welterweight Champion (Super Champion).
The American superstar, Mayweather, who holds an incredible record of winning all of his 42 professional fights, including 26 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, on the same note is a five-division world champion and currently holds the World Boxing
Council World Welterweight Championship belt.
