Ricky Hatton pumped up for comeback fight – Boxing News
Former welterweight titlist Ricky Hatton is thrilled to enter the ring once again. The Briton fighter, who retired from professional boxing three years back, is finally on the go. In a recent interview, the former junior welterweight titlist revealed that
he chose a tough opponent only to show the world that he still has what it takes to beat the giants.
“This is a very dangerous opponent for a so-called comeback fight,” said Stephen Espinoza, general manager of Showtime Sports. “Ricky is showing us that he wants to challenge himself and immediately put himself back in the mix with the top 147 pounders.
There are a number of exciting matchups in this division, and with a win Ricky will be right back in upper echelon of the division.”
Hatton is coming with 45 wins, 2 losses and 32 knockouts in his portfolio. Both of his losses came at the hands of today’s top two fighters Floyd Mayweather jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Hatton, who lost to Pacquiao via second round knockout, believes his knockout
loss at the hands of Pacquiao was not the end of his career and that he has to do more in the ring.
“People ask if I should come back, will I win, can I be world champ again. They don’t get it. I’ve already won. I’m here. I saved myself. The end of the ‘Ricky Hatton Story’ was not being knocked out by Pacquiao,” said Hatton.
Hatton will face former welterweight titlist Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24. According to the Hitman, Vyacheslav is one of the most elite fighters in the division, which is the reason as to why the Briton selected to fight him. Hatton claims that he
could have made his comeback even more prominent by fighting an inferior opponent but he wanted to make it grand by fighting a top-notch fighter.
While Hatton is confident that he will be able to once again rule the boxing world, his associates and well wishers think otherwise. Promoter Frank Warren, who once was Hatton’s close associate, believes Hatton is making a mistake by stepping in the ring
again.
