Ricky Hatton ready to compromise on boozing and bingeing – Boxing News
Former world champion Ricky Hatton is ready to compromise on boozing and bingeing in order to make his comeback a solid one. Hatton knows where he lags and that it is time for him to take necessary measures in order to revive his career.
“This is a permanent lifestyle change,” said Hatton in an interview with the Daily Mail. “I know that if I’m going to get all the way back to winning world titles I can’t blow up to 15 stones (210 lbs.) between fights and then train like crazy and crash
diet to get the weight off.”
Hatton is making him comeback against Vyacheslav Senchenko on November 24 at the MEN Arena in Manchester, Englad.
“My body won’t take that any more. But I also know that the drink and everything else was killing me. The depression which followed not only that defeat by Pacquiao but all the bingeing took me to the brink of suicide. That won’t happen again. At 34 I’ve
got my life under control,” he added.
Hatton retired from boxing after a career devastating knockout loss to Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao. Before Pacquiao, Hatton suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of American unbeaten fighter Floyd Mayweather. Two consecutive losses by the two
most dominating athletes in the world of boxing got Hatton depressed and the Briton legend decided to retire.
Now, for some reason, Hatton believes he can make a comeback and get back on the track. According to the former champion, he is ready to get in the scene again and win world titles. It should be noted here that Hatton’s former associates such as Frank Warren
believe the Briton has nothing left to prove and that if he steps in the ring again he might suffer embarrassment.
For now, Hatton is determined to prove his mettle. Considering the depression phrase of his life which just ended, one can say that Hatton can no longer take the beating and the training demands of the sports. Although the former champion is insisting he
will fight Pacquiao and Mayweather again to prove his mark, many believe he is already over.
