Ricky Hatton reckons Amir Khan can beat Floyd Mayweather – Boxing news
The Hitman, Ricky Hatton, sees the current International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Association World Light Welterweight Champion Amir Khan with a chance in his possible clash against the five-division world champion, Floyd Mayweather, who is the
current World Boxing Council’s Emeritus World Super Welterweight Champion.
The American legend, Mayweather, has never been defeated in the ring as of yet. He holds an undefeated record of 41 wins with 25 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout.
Therefore Hatton, who is a former WBU, WBA Light Welterweight Champion and WBC, WBA, WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion, and former Ring Magazine Junior Welterweight Champion, admitted Mayweather’s talent.
Hatton told the media Mayweather has immense talent but on the same note the Brit claimed the 24-year-old Bolton belter, Khan, who has won 26 of his 27 professional fights with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, is getting better day by day.
“Floyd Mayweather is an exceptional talent – but Amir Khan is getting better and better and better with every single fight,” said Hatton.
Hatton, who is also a two-time International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation Light Welterweight Champion, stated a few years ago that nobody knew Amir Khan but now he is everywhere because he has earned himself all of this.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “It makes me feel proud to call him a friend. He’s starting to fly the flag similar to what I did all them years ago. A few years ago you wouldn’t have mentioned Amir Khan in the same breath as Floyd Mayweather but
his performances now certainly warrant it.”
In the end, Hatton claimed if Khan, who is widely known as King Khan takes on Mayweather, he certainly has a chance of winning.
“He's an exceptional talent but Amir's doing everything in order to get that fight and I’d like to see Amir with a chance,” he said.
The Mayweather-Khan bout has not been decided as of yet but it is in the pipeline and hopefully this mega showdown will take place in 2012.
