Ricky Hatton reveals he considered suicide after he was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao – Boxing news
Ricky Hatton, who is a former two-time International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation light welterweight champion, has made a staggering revelation in which he admitted he considered committing suicide after his second round knockout
defeat against Manny ‘Pac-Man’ Pacquiao.
Hatton, who after his loss to Pacquiao put his career on a long pause, told the media it was very hard for him to take the defeat.
Hatton said, “I was so down, crying, breaking down and contemplating suicide. A lot of people say they’ve tried to commit suicide. Saying it is one thing and doing it is completely different. It was coming on a regular basis.”
The 32-year-old Brit, who won 45 of his 47 professional fights during his career in which 32 of them came by the way of a knockout, stated he is a warrior and the way he lost to Pacquiao was terrible.

“I was heartbroken after defeat. I’m a proud man, a warrior, so to get splattered in two rounds was hard to take,” Hatton said.
Hatton stated he tried a lot to get back into the sport but he realised his hunger was gone. Hatton was admitted to rehab in 2010 as he was fighting hard against depression and alcohol.

He said, “I tried to get back into training, but the hunger in my belly had gone. My career was over. Everything got on top of me, it was really horrible. I’d go out, have some drinks and start sulking, feeling sorry for myself.”
Ricky Hatton, who is more commonly known as Ricky ‘the Hitman’ Hatton, met the eight-division world champion and the current World Boxing Organisation Welterweight World Champion (Super Champion), Manny Pacquiao, in a much-anticipated bout back in May 2009
at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the great fight proved to be a nightmare for Hatton as he suffered a brutal second round knockout at the hands of Pacquiao.
Hatton is no doubt a true warrior and let’s hope he returns to the ring as it would really be a great news for millions of his fans.
