Hattons no1 140 pounder in the world but why is he not moving up to fight in the 147 pound class where the fight are far bigger. Hes trying to make fights with Paulie Malignaggi, Andreas Kotelik and Demetrius Hopkins when he should be trying to make fights with Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley and Antonio Margarito. Why is this is it because he can beat those fighters below 140 pounds but come the big boys hes exposed for what he is a club fighter.

  1. Ricky Hatton is scared for a number of reason

he has a disadvantage against the welterweight fighters, as we saw against floyd

he does not want to retire with a loss..

Lastly, he can't hang with the big boys...

i hate to say it, but he can't go up further because he will be demolish... there is just too much in the welterweight division....  if he had to fight the top 5 contenders in the welterweight, he would lose all by K.O...

    so i agree with you...

  2. Because 147 isn't really his natural weight (apart from in between fights, when it's more like 180!).  He got so badly exposed by Floyd that, coupled with the promise of some huge paydays, I doubt he'll want to do it again.

I don't buy the suggestion that he's just a club fighter though, how many of his fights have you actually seen?  A record of 44-1 (31 KOs), beat Tszyu and Castillo and got the Ring Mag Fighter of the year is 2005.  You seriously saying he can't compete?

Oh, and what's his skin colour got to do with it?

  3. Ridiculous! That's like saying Cotto wouldn't fight Pavlik because he's scared...they're different weights and boxers fight in their natural weight group!

To say Ricky Hatton is a club fighter only highlights the fact you lack knowledge in boxing. He's lost ONE fight in his ENTIRE career against a world class boxer when he jumped up a weight. His last fight admittedly wasn't his best performance but perhaps that could be because he was recovering from a chest infection, much like he was when he fought Urango. But hey the "club fighter" managed to beat both of them still.

EDIT: I said he was recovering from a chest infection not that he was still suffering with it up to the fight. If in the event the chest infection was an excuse, you can't escape the fact that he still beat Lazcano. Oscar De La Hoya said Lazcano isn't an easy fighter and was a tough opponent for Hatton to have chosen for a comeback fight. Lazcano even gave Cotto a hard time so I still think you're remarks lack substance.

For some people, whatever Hatton does or whoever he fights they'll still slate him and I can't understand why. He's a cracking boxer who's done a h**l of a lot for British boxing and has represented his country well.

YAS: Take you're ignorant racsist comments elsewhere.

  4. yes, hatton only want to keep in this weight because the oponnets are not realy hard, as the welterweights,

Cotto vs Hatton could be a great fight, but its gonna take time because, after the defeath by Mayweather, Hatton mentally goes down, and its take time, and its looks in the fight with Lazcano

but sure that Hatton is gonna be in the welterweights

    good luck

  5. Hatton hasn't proved himself against top caliber fighters, all he had beaten was just nobody. Im sorry to say this, but seeing his previous fights, I can say that he's overrated.

  6. Reason is Hatton is OVERRATED & he can't beat any solid 147lb fighter.  Mayweather killed him, so would Cotto, Mosley, Margaritto, Cintron & Paul Williams.  He has lived on fighting nobody's & then finding fights with fighters on the downside of their careers.  Everyone gives him a ton of credit for beating Kosta Zyu who was way past his prime.  No one else worth mentioning.

He should move down & fight guys that can't hurt him,  I mean his English fans still back him.

  7. You can,t blame Ricky he is a smart fighter he now knows that he can,t bang with the big boys so why go out there and get embarrassed like he did against Mayweather Ricky is to small to fight the welter weights Ricky was fighting for his life against Mayweather not something you want to do every fight. Someone said that Ricky is a club fighter come on now Ricky is a great little fighter just because he lost to  GREAT FIGHTER DOSE NOT MEAN that he is not a great fighter let,s give respect where respect id dew

  8. Although Ricky Hatton may have lost to Floyd Mayweather via KO, you could almost see past round 2 that Hatton wasnt fighting his usual fight, Cortez wouldnt let him to his dynamic inside fighting, and Mayweather used cheats with his forearms and elbows,

But before the fight was aired on HBO PPV or Sky Box Office, i heavily fancied Hatton for the win, he is a better fighter, and could have battered Mayweather like he has never done before, but sadly when the night came, the tension and anger from the press engagements and weigh-in forced Hatton to play Mayweathers stupid mind games like his other 38 opponents had, Hatton went into the fight very aggresive, but i dont think the ref helped this much.

Also i think Hatton's chances of fighting a legit 147 pounder are still quite high, but although most regard Mayweather as #1 P4P, i do not, as there are alot of Welterweight & Middleweight fighters who would tear him apart..

    -Middleweight +

    -Joe Calzaghe

    -Kelly Pavlik

    -Jermain Taylor

    -Lucian Bute

    -Welterweight+ -

    -Miguel Cotto

    -Antonio Margarito

-Marco Antonio Barrera (In His Prime)

    -Ricky Hatton

  9. wouldnt say hes as much scared as that he has realised his limits.he is very one dimensional as in he needs to be able to fight close in,and when there is a strong ref he will be pulled up for rough house tactics.people say he is a great fighter.i dont think hatton will ever be great as he will never be able to clean up 3,4 or 5 weight divisions due to having very limited skills.he was so way out of his league with mayweather, and been extremely lucky in his two other fights at welter that his level has really got to stay at lightwelter, where at the moment there are no superfights.

  10. he isn't scared he is smart. Hatton can't compete with them and fighting them would only result in another result like him fighting Mayweather or even worse. the reason he weant up to 147 is b/c of having trouble losing the weight.

  11. This is because Hatton got smashed up against mayweather and cant compete with proper welterweights.

i luved it when that over hyped white boy got smashed up and then when mayweather gave him that 'check hook' banged his head on the turnbuckle.lol awesome!
